What we do

Exploration

Exploration activity is essential to offset declining reserves from existing production. The Norwegian Continental Shelf continues to hold substantial volumes of undiscovered oil and gas, with the potential to support Europe’s energy demand for decades to come.

ORLEN Upstream Norway is committed to drilling four to six exploration and appraisal wells per year over the long term. Its exploration efforts are focused on opportunities close to existing infrastructure, enabling cost‑ and time‑efficient tie‑backs and creating synergies within core production hubs.

In recent years, the company has taken part in several major discoveries, including Warka (13–69 million barrels of oil equivalent), Øst Frigg/Epsilon (53-90 million boe) and Omega Alpha (96–135 million boe).
